Philippine Geranium Oil Introduction
Is commonly called cranesbill, geranium includes more than 700 species of flowering annual, biennial, and perennial plants. Philippine geranium oil is extracted from Pelargonium odorantissimum in most of the cases which is a plant of the Geraniaceae family. This oil has a strong smell with a floral aroma and a hint of mint. The plants containing Philippine geranium oil are assumed to be originated from South Africa, Reunion, Madagascar, Egypt and Morocco. The plants containing this oil have a hairy perennial shrub, often used in hedgerows, and stand up to about one meter high (3 feet) with pointed leaves, serrated at the edges. These plants have pinkish –white flowers.

The Philippine Geranium Oil constitutes a-pinene, myrcene, limonene, menthone, linalool, geranyl acetate, citronellol and geranyl butyrate. As far as therapeutic properties of geranium oil are considered, it is astringent, haemostatic, cicatrisant, cytophylactic, diuretic, deodorant, haemostatic, styptic, tonic, vermifuge and vulnerary.
